This is an exciting day! This is the start of a blog that has taken decades to launch. I say decades because the three main contributors have been busy raising their daughters and interacting with the culture they have been growing up in for all those years. They are now ready to pass along what they have learned. The three main contributors have distinct perspectives on raising daughters as well as what girls need to flourish in life.

Alan Smyth will post every Monday. I have a 24 year old daughter who is thriving out in the real world and I would love to pass along thoughts, helps and strategies which helped me raise my daughter. Beyond just being a dad, I have been involved with Young Life, a non-denominational Christian out reach for over 30 years. My involvement with Young Life has given me insights to adolescents during that time. It has also afforded me the opportunity to be in close relationship with dozens of female Young Life staff and leaders who are in contact with hundreds of young girls. Because of this, I have access to insights which will prove helpful to those who are interested.

Kristy Fox will post every Wednesday. Kristy is a 20 year Young Life staff veteran and is raising three kids of her own including one daughter. She has been in direct contact with thousands of young girls as they are growing up. She has heard their stories and has felt their pain. She knows well what these girls need in a strong male figure in their life. She will write from this perspective every Wednesday.

Dr. Don Worcestor, will post every Friday. Don is a Ph.D. and has spent a life time working with marriage and family issues. Don has a wealth of “professional” insights on this important topic as well as a wealth of personal insights as he is also raising a High School age daughter.

The point of this blog and website is to provide real help to fathers who have daughters. Additionally, youth workers who regularly work with adolescent girls will also benefit. This blog as well as the website entitled will be dedicated to maximizing the efforts of dads with daughters. This is an important topic that deserves our attention. Please go to the website and subscribe via e-mail to this blog. Then each entry will be e-mailed directly to you and you will be sure to never miss an entry. Additionally, when you subscribe to this blog, you will be e-mailed the first chapter of the soon to be released book “Prize Possession.” I spearheaded this project and brought in significant contributions from Kristy Fox, as well as dozens of other contributors. You can review the book and eventually obtain the book from our website. This coming Monday, October 29 will be the official launch of this blog as I will post my first official entry. I hope to see you there and hope you will subscribe and check the site often as we endeavor to grow this into a genuine resource which will be extremely helpful.

Please take it upon yourself to forward an invitation to this blog to anyone you think would be interested to interact around this important topic. We hope to establish important conversations with interested parties around the sacred task of raising a healthy daughter. I have high hopes for the growing content and input that will be part of this project. You can also follow this conversation on facebook and twitter. “Like” us on facebook at “” and follow us on twitter @2cor618.

Bless you

Alan Smyth
